The preventive culture is an integrated value in our management and organizational model and has been from the very moment of the design of our facilities.

For this reason, safety in our nursery schools is a primordial factor, being constantly reviewed and improved, and constitutes a differential value.

All our students develop all their activities in safe and adapted environments, having eliminated all those risk factors susceptible to such. Although it would be excessively long tolist all the prevention systems and measures that our nursery schools have , the following can be mentioned as examples:

General facilities:

• All the floors of the children's areas are suitable for the development of the activities that take place in them, having a determined cushioning level.
• All the walls are covered with harmless coatings, perfectly adapted for children's use.
• All exterior doors are secured against unintentional opening and have locks that are out of the reach of children.
• The interior doors are equipped with anti-climbing systems, safety visors and are difficult for children to manipulate.
• All windows are completely inaccessible to children and have the corresponding security systems.
• In all our schools we have dispensed with stairs and unevenness, saving the small differences in height with gentle ramps.
• Sockets are either located at a height inaccessible to children or are equipped with child safety systems.
• There are no cables or electrical elements within reach of minors that could pose a risk.

Specific facilities:

• All areas allow for easy and direct supervision of minors, with no gaps or hidden areas.
• Food preparation areas are suitably differentiated, equipped with all safety systems and features that allow for safe cleaning and hygiene.
• Sleeping areas are equipped with beds and mattresses for children, manufactured specifically for their age group and fully adapted and safe.
• The changing areas have specific furniture, duly adapted.
• All the children's toilets have child-sized sanitary equipment, fully adapted to their size, with appropriate safety measures and easy and attractive to use for children, who are encouraged to use them independently, although this use is always supervised.
• The dining area has furniture designed and manufactured specifically for the ages of our students with special characteristics that facilitate its use and hygiene.
• All outdoor playgrounds are properly secured with perimeter fences of considerable height, have floors adapted for children's play and outdoor toys, collective or individual, are specific for children's use in their age group.

Equipment

• All the furniture has been designed and manufactured specifically for use with children from 0 to 3 years of age, with safety devices that prevent access by these children.
• All of the toys, resources and educational materials available at our nursery schools have been specifically designed and manufactured for use by children.

Likewise, 5ª Avenida Schools has multiple management and organization systems for the schools that eliminate other possible risks, such as rigid rules for handing over students to people other than their parents, prior identification systems for access to the facilities, specific safety rules for extracurricular activities, and so on and so forth.

Growing in Health

The health of our students plays a fundamental role in our organization and operation. 5th Avenue Schools and its nursery schools are aware of the importance of promoting a healthy and safe environment for our children, developing practices, habits and work procedures that have a priority impact on providing this healthy environment.

Thus, at 5th Avenue Schools we apply multiple preventive measures aimed at developing the best possible environment for our students, such as hand hygiene on a regular and constant basis and, in particular, before and after diaper changes, scheduled ventilation operations in classrooms and spaces, cleaning and disinfection procedures for facilities, equipment, toys, etc.., with a preventive spirit we maintain a constant supervision of our students in case of possible health disorders, we develop protocols for periodic cleaning and disinfection of all frequently used elements (doorknobs, changing tables, common utensils, etc.), etc.

They also have specific training and procedures to deal with the most common situations of indisposition with young children, rules of action in case of accidents, intolerances, allergies and have a very high level of knowledge about best practices and healthy hygiene habits in nursery schools best practices and healthy hygiene habits in nursery schools.

The combination of all of the above, provides us with the highest possible levels of asepsis in our nursery schools and although we know, in the words of the Spanish Association of Primary Care Pediatrics, that "infections are part of the normal development of the child, allow their defenses to be activated and eventually improve their immune system", our greatest effort is, however, not to cease in our efforts to provide the healthiest possible environment for our students.
